Here are worship materials for the 6th Sunday of Eastertide.
Call to Worship Psalm 98 Adapted
One: O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things.
All: His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory.
One: The Lord has made known his victory;
he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
All: He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel.
One: All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
All: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
One: Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody.
All: With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.
One: Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it.
All: Let the floods clap their hands;
let the hills sing together for joy at the presence of the Lord.
One: For he is coming to judge the earth.
All: He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.
One: So it will be as it is now in our proclaiming, “The peace of God be with you.”
All: And also with you.
Prayer of Invocation
Gracious God, abide in us, and help us to abide in you. Grant that this might be our ballast, your abiding presence, steadying us for spirited movement amidst this, your beloved creation, and throughout the living of our days.
As we follow in the way of Jesus, and not just as his disciples but also as his friends, we let go all the requirements of membership that might once have been, and we seek your Holy Spirit of restless but reliable truth.
Help us to trust in your Spirit, to discern its stirrings in our hearts and in this gathered body. Help us to wait for your Spirit, that it might arrive among us and make light our hearts. Free us from heavy dogma, an insistence on the “way it should be” or on “how we’ve always done it.” Help us instead to seek and find, in surprise and delight.
Though in Jesus risen and ascended you have left us, you have not left us alone or orphaned. You give us your Spirit. You give us your Church. In joy, we receive, with thanks and praise. Alleluia! Amen.
