In advance of Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans, The Berkshire Eagle featured a front page article in which the cemetery of Church on the Hill played a prominent role.
We happen to share the hilltop with seven people whose efforts helped liberate the enslaved of the South.
Below is Jeremiah Bradley's grave, to which his great-granddaughter Barbara Lewis and her second cousin Eunice Jones recently made pilgrimage, as pictured here.
