About Us

Church on the Hill is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ.

Our mission: Led by the Holy Spirit, we are committed to being Christ’s disciples in the community.

Our church is also a welcoming home to people from a great variety of church backgrounds and life experiences. Thank you for taking even a few minutes on this website: your presence here is a gift to us! We hope you that will feel God’s Spirit wherever and however you encounter Church on the Hill.

Who Are We?

Church on the Hill has been worshiping on Lenox's hill, learning God's ways of shalom, and serving our neighbors in the wider community, since 1769. Church on the Hill is a part of the United Church of Christ (read more about the UCC by clicking here). The UCC is organized into 38 conferences, and we actively support the mission and ministry of the Massachusetts Conference (click to read more).

As an Open and Affirming congregation we celebrate the wondrous diversity in God’s creation, and we prayerfully follow the way laid out by Jesus Christ, in affirming God's blessing of each human being. We begin each worship service by making our welcome explicit:

Whoever you are, wherever you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.

Welcome to you if you are:
old or young, or a little bit of each;
doubting or believing, or a little bit of each;
LGBTQIAP or straight, or a little bit of each.
Welcome to worshipers of
all colors,
all genders,
all relationship statuses,
all states of mind,
all shapes and sizes.

Because you are here, Church on the Hill, this Body of Christ, is whole and perfect.

Welcome, friend, in the name of Christ Jesus.
